In 1987 Tom Selleck, Ted Danson and Steve Guttenberg all starred in the hugely popular film 3 Men and A Baby film.

It was not long before a rumor started to circulate. There is a scene with Ted Danson and the baby (shown to the right) shows what appears to be a “ghost” of a boy and a gun pointed into the ground inthe background.

The rumor is- That captured in this scene is the ghost of a nine year old boy who committed suicide in the apartment used for filming. The parents sold the apartment immediately after the suicide and the studio used it for the film. The rumor goes on to tell how this boy’s mother appeared on popular chat shows and was very upset at her boy’s ghost appearing in the film; In turn she went insane and was placed in an asylum for the rest of her life. None of this is true.

It is believed that the rumor of the ghost boy started when the film was first released onto video and helped with the promotion of the sequel “Three Men and a Little Lady”. Some say that the studio created the rumor to promote the films.

The inside scenes for Three Men and A Baby were in fact filmed on a studio set in Toronto and no apartment ever existed.

The image you see in the background is actually a cardboard cutout of Ted Danson. The cardboard cutout featured in a scene that was edited out of the original film, but the cardboard cutout appears in the background of the original film and has the appearance of a small boy and the lapel appears as the gun in one occasion.

The scenes featured in the film appear slightly different than the image below due to the curtains over the cardboard cutout and the different angles of the cutout being filmed.

The scene not shown in the movie that clearly shows the cardboard cutout of Ted Danson which appeared in the background of the scenes on the right and has been commonly mistaken as the ghost of a little boy and a gun.
